From the Mailbag : Best Time to Workout and Ok to Eat after 7 pm?
I work from 8-5 everyday, when is the best time to workout & is it TRUE not to eat after 7 PM??

Great questions! I often get asked what the best time to workout is and if it’s ok to eat after 7.
First to address working out: Always work out when it’s best for you. So if that’s in the morning, afternoon, or evening do it then! Whatever it takes for you to get it done and fit it into your busy schedule. Just be sure to write it on your schedule as though it is a VERY important appointment you can’t miss.
As for eating after 7pm that all really depends. Often, the issue lies in what people are eating. It’s easy to get carried away eating a bag of Doritos in front of the TV. Chances are you’re not hungry but rather just eating out of habit and eating WAY too much. Thus you are eating extra calories and packing on extra pounds. So really the key is to eat every few hours and eat when you are hungry. So it’s ok to eat after 7pm, but only if you need to and limit your calories as your body doesn’t need as many calories late at night to fuel the body as you’ll be going to bed soon.
For instance, if you get out of work late and don’t arrive home until 7 pm you most definitely want to eat dinner especially if you haven’t eaten for many hours. Also, if you’re a night owl and stay up till say midnight and eat dinner at 6 pm that’s a long time to go without eating, so I would recommend a late snack around 9 pm or so. Ultimately, it’s balancing what you eat throughout the whole day and be sure to choose healthy nutritious foods.
